Email template to request a bridal makeup quote

Your wedding date is set and you need someone to do your makeup, and probably your bridesmaids' and your mother's too. Bridal makeup pricing has more parts than most people expect: a trial (a practice session a few weeks before the wedding so you can see the look and change it), the wedding-day application for you, a per-person price for everyone else, and often a travel fee or an early-start fee if the artist has to be at your hotel at six in the morning. Asking by email gets all of that in one written quote you can compare against other artists, and it confirms in writing that the artist is actually free on your date.

Before you send

  • The wedding date, where you will be getting ready (a venue, a hotel, a house), and the time everyone needs to be finished.
  • A headcount: you, plus how many bridesmaids, mothers, or anyone else who wants makeup. A rough number is fine; say it may change.
  • Whether you want a trial, and roughly when. Most artists recommend one; some include it, some charge separately.
  • A few words about the style you want. "Natural and long-wearing" or "full glam" is enough; a photo or two helps if you have them.
  • A date by which you want to book, so the artist knows how long they are holding your date without a deposit.

Everything in brackets is yours to fill in. Keep the rest as it is or change the tone to match how you write.

After you send

  • A good quote lists each item separately and says plainly whether the date is open. A quote that only says "packages start at" with no date confirmation is not something you can plan around; ask for both.
  • Ask what is not included. False lashes, a touch-up kit for the day, and a second artist for a large party are the usual extras.
  • Read the deposit and cancellation terms before paying. A deposit is normally non-refundable, so be sure of the artist before sending it.
  • If the artist cannot confirm your date in writing or takes more than a week to reply, move on. Wedding dates fill up and you need someone who answers.
